Non-Verbal Reasoning uses shapes and pictures instead of words. Children look for how figures change in size, shading, number, position or direction, and use that rule to find the missing or odd one out.
Because it doesn't depend on reading, children who are strong with words can still find it tricky at first. A good habit is to check one feature at a time (shape, shading, number, direction) and rule out options that break any rule.
