For you, alongside your child

The move to secondary school is as much about confidence as content. Each week comes with a short note for you: what your child is learning, a few things to talk about at dinner or in the car, and small practical things to try before the first day.

  • Every child in your family, each with their own progress
  • Weekly notes for parents: what to talk about and what to try at home
  • A printable certificate when your child finishes all six weeks
  • Open until 15 Apr 2027 if you buy today, with nothing to cancel

From the week 6 parent notes

Friends & feelings

This week is about the feelings side of starting secondary school: nerves, friendships, phones and knowing where to get help. Talking about these things calmly now helps your child feel ready and know that it is always fine to ask.

Things to talk about

  • What are you most looking forward to, and is there anything you feel unsure about?
  • How did you make friends when you started primary school?
  • What would you do if a message online upset you?

Questions parents ask

Who is Ready for Year 7 for?

Children finishing Year 6 who are about to start secondary school, whether or not they sat the 11+ or got a grammar school place. It's written for ages 10 and 11.

How long does my family have the course?

Until the later of 31 October in the year you buy it and six months after you buy it. Bought today, it's open until 15 Apr 2027: the whole summer and the first half term of Year 7.

Is it included with Premium?

No. It's a separate one-off payment of £39, with no subscription and nothing to cancel. You don't need Premium to buy it.

Is it for one child or the whole family?

Every child on your account can do the course, each with their own progress and their own certificate at the end.

How much time does it take?

Each lesson takes 10 to 15 minutes, about 5 hours across the six weeks. Three or four lessons a week fits easily around a holiday, and it's fine to go faster or slower.

What do parents get?

A page showing each child's progress, and notes for every week: things to talk about together and small things to try at home before September.
