What it practises
Cloze practice: each sentence has a word with some letters missing. Your child uses the meaning of the sentence and the letters shown to work out the word, then writes the missing letters.
How to solve them
Read the whole sentence and think what word would make sense there, then check it has the right number of letters and matches every letter shown. Write the missing letters in order.
How to use it
Print the questions and keep the answers page to one side. Allow about 12 minutes, then mark it together and talk through anything that went wrong using the explanations. Move up a level once your child gets most of them right.
