What it practises
Shuffled sentences: the words of a sentence are mixed up and one extra word has been added. Your child puts the sentence together in their head and finds the word that is not needed.
How to solve them
Find the subject and the verb first, then build the sentence around them. The extra word is often one that looks as if it fits, such as a second verb or a word with nearly the same meaning.
How to use it
Print the questions and keep the answers page to one side. Allow about 12 minutes, then mark it together and talk through anything that went wrong using the explanations. Move up a level once your child gets most of them right.
