What it practises

Figures with letter codes. Each letter stands for a feature (shape, shading, direction...). Your child works out the code for a new figure.

How to solve them

Find two figures that share a letter and ask what else they have in common. Work out the first letter's meaning, then the second, and code the new figure one letter at a time.

How to use it

Print the questions and keep the answers page to one side. Allow about 12 minutes, then mark it together and talk through anything that went wrong using the explanations. Move up a level once your child gets most of them right.
