How to practise for CSSE (Essex) papers

  1. 1. Use the official material

Your test's familiarisation booklet or sample questions show the real papers, timings and answer sheets. Do them first, then again near the test.

  2. 2. Learn the question types

Work through English, Maths and creative writing one question type at a time, untimed at first, before moving on to full papers.

  3. 3. Practise in the right format

CSSE (Essex) papers expect written answers: your child works out each answer and writes it down, rather than choosing from options. In the last few months, do timed papers in that format and go through every mistake together afterwards.
