What it practises

Reading and interpreting data: bar charts with different scales, line graphs, pictograms with keys, pie charts, Venn diagrams and Carroll diagrams. Every chart is drawn on the sheet.

How to solve them

Before answering, read the title, the labels and the scale: work out what one gridline (or one symbol) is worth. Then read the question twice: does it want one value, a difference or a total?

How to use it

Print the questions and keep the answers page to one side. Allow about 15 minutes, then mark it together and talk through anything that went wrong using the explanations. Move up a level once your child gets most of them right.
