What it practises
Two pairs of words in brackets. Your child picks the word that goes equally well with both pairs, because it has two different meanings (fast: go without food, and quick).
How to solve them
Say each option with the first pair, then with the second. The answer must fit both, usually with a different meaning each time. Watch out for words that only fit one pair.
How to use it
Print the questions and keep the answers page to one side. Allow about 15 minutes, then mark it together and talk through anything that went wrong using the explanations. Move up a level once your child gets most of them right.
