What it practises
Number series built on adding, subtracting, multiplying, alternating steps and growing gaps. Your child finds the rule and the next number.
How to solve them
Write the difference between each pair of numbers underneath the series. If the differences don't make a pattern, look at every other number, or try multiplying.
How to use it
Print the questions and keep the answers page to one side. Allow about 15 minutes, then mark it together and talk through anything that went wrong using the explanations. Move up a level once your child gets most of them right.
