What it practises
Two words in brackets. Your child finds the one letter that can be taken out of the first word and put into the second, so that both make new real words without changing the order of the other letters.
How to solve them
Try taking each letter out of the first word in turn and check what is left is still a word. Only then see whether that letter fits somewhere in the second word.
How to use it
Print the questions and keep the answers page to one side. Allow about 15 minutes, then mark it together and talk through anything that went wrong using the explanations. Move up a level once your child gets most of them right.
