What it practises
Two groups of three words. Your child picks one word from each group so that together they make a new word, such as car + pet = carpet.
How to solve them
Say each possible pair out loud, keeping the first group's word first. Watch out for pairs that sound right but aren't real words, and remember the spelling must not change.
How to use it
Print the questions and keep the answers page to one side. Allow about 15 minutes, then mark it together and talk through anything that went wrong using the explanations. Move up a level once your child gets most of them right.
