What it practises
Series of letters or letter pairs that move along the alphabet by a pattern. Your child spots the pattern and finds what comes next.
How to solve them
Treat the first letters and the second letters of each pair as two separate series. Count the jumps between them (+2, +3, -1...) using the printed alphabet, and remember the alphabet wraps round from Z back to A.
How to use it
Print the questions and keep the answers page to one side. Allow about 15 minutes, then mark it together and talk through anything that went wrong using the explanations. Move up a level once your child gets most of them right.
