About CEM-style

CEM (the Centre for Evaluation and Monitoring, now part of Cambridge University Press & Assessment) used to write the 11+ for many areas. It no longer sets the main 11+ test for most of them, though a few schools still use CEM's online tests. CEM-style practice means mixed, separately timed sections with a strong focus on vocabulary and reasoning. We keep it for existing papers and those schools; it isn't our recommended starting point for new children.

Legacy style. Check which provider your area uses now on its admissions page before choosing CEM-style practice.

These are the topics our 11+ course teaches in each subject CEM-styletests. Not every area or school tests every subject or topic, so check the familiarisation material for your child's test.

Would you rather someone planned it for you?

Our 11+ course covers every topic on this list, week by week from Year 4 to the exam: a short lesson, practice and a weekly paper in each subject, with reviews in the holidays and a note for you each week on how it went. You can start free and see how your child gets on.
